Who is it suitable for?
The purpose and aim of this qualification is to engage and motivate individuals who are interested in learning about land-based technology – and the various roles that are available in the land-based industry.
This L3 Subsidiary Diploma is ideal for individuals who have a keen interest and some practical experience in maintaining agricultural equipment and machinery, and who wish to develop their skills and knowledge in particular topic areas.
This qualification allows learners to develop underpinning knowledge whilst practising skills that could be used within employment in the land-based technology industry. The L3 Subsidiary Diploma contains three mandatory topics. Learners can then choose other topic areas from a choice of 30 optional units. The qualification's combination of units provides the learners with the flexibility of choice.
- Service and Repair of Engines and Components
- Service and Repair of Hydraulic Systems and Components
- Understanding Health, Safety and Welfare in the Land-based Engineering Workplace
For some learners this qualification could prepare them for progression to further learning and training. For others, this qualification could also provide a useful recognition of their practical skills and knowledge, to aid their step from one job role to another.
The qualification includes a practical approach to assessment which should stimulate and interest the learner. To demonstrate the learner's knowledge and understanding of the subject, assessment also includes:

- written assessments
