Update on the qualification numbers and the two attempt ruling

As you will be aware from previous notifications and part of the DfE requirements, the two attempt ruling must be applied to qualifications approved for 14-16 year olds and for those qualifications which appear on the approved list of Key Stage 4 Performance. For qualifications appearing on the 2018 performance tables and learners registered as of the 1st September 2016, the IMI have made a small change to the qualification numbers as shown below:

Current registration numbers:

  • 601/0531/8, IMI Level 1 Certificate in Service and Maintenance Engineering (VRQ)

  • 601/0532/X, IMI Level 2 Certificate in Service and Maintenance Engineering (VRQ)

  • 601/0541/0, IMI Level 1 Diploma in Service and Maintenance Engineering (VRQ)

  • 601/0542/2, IMI Level 2 Diploma in Service and Maintenance Engineering (VRQ)

New registration numbers:

  •  601/0531/8 (16) IMI Level 1 Certificate in Service and Maintenance Engineering (VRQ)

  • 601/0532/X (16) IMI Level 2 Certificate in Service and Maintenance Engineering (VRQ)

  • 601/0541/0 (16) IMI Level 1 Diploma in Service and Maintenance Engineering (VRQ)

  • 601/0542/2 (16) IMI Level 2 Diploma in Service and Maintenance Engineering (VRQ)

When selecting the online assessments, the new numbers will introduce the two attempt ruling and assessments will be shown as:

  • ET111 (1) Health and Safety Practices in an Engineering Environment (1)

  • ET111 (2) Health and Safety Practices in an Engineering Environment (2)

This then allows you to identify the first and second attempt for each assessment. Remember, should learners refer both attempts, they cannot retake them till the next academic year.

As of the 3rd January 2017 the old numbers will be removed for registrations and all learners registered from the 1st September 2016 will be transferred to these new qualification numbers.

Centres currently linked to the old qualification numbers will automatically be linked to the new numbers.

Any candidates already in the system registered for these qualifications from 1st September will be transferred over to the new qualification numbers.
