South Devon College and student Andrew Fear celebrate success at the IMI Awards Outstanding Achievers ceremony
SOUTH DEVON COLLEGE and automotive student Andrew Fear have been recognised by the IMI Awards as the Approved Centre of the Year and the Outstanding Technical Student in the Motorcycle category, respectively.
IMI Awards, who are the leading body for automotive qualifications and certifications in the United Kingdom, hosted their annual Outstanding Achievers ceremony on 31st October at Fanshaws in Hertfordshire, where they honoured South Devon College and Andrew for their exceptional work.
Andrew saw off other students from over 550 centres in the IMI Awards network, whom South Devon College also beat to win their award. The awards were presented by IMI Group patron His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent, who praised the "hard work, dedication and passion" of both the winners and finalists.
Andrew, currently a Level 3 Motorcycle Maintenance student, was recognised for his work during his Level 2 diploma, for which he was also awarded the South Devon College Automotive Student of the Year in the Motorcycle Level 2 category. His exemplary levels of success and willingness to assist other students made him a worthy winner of both awards, reflecting his incredible efforts over the past year.
The Approved Centre of the Year award serves as recognition of 3 years of hard work at South Devon College, and acknowledges significant growth and investment in new facilities and equipment. Senior Section Head of Automotive, Engineering & Noss Marine Academy, Steve Caunter, said, "We are delighted to receive this award from the leading awarding body in the industry. It confirms our status as an elite training provider, and not only recognises the provision of our staff but also the quality of the work our talented students produce".
He continued, "Andrew's work is a great example of this. From day one he has been a pleasure to teach and has been fully committed to succeeding at South Devon College. The skills and characteristics he has showcased in his time here will not only stand him in good stead for future studies, but also ensure he will undoubtedly be a success in any work environment he steps into. He too was a very worthy winner and deserves our congratulations".
