New Law to Balance Focus on Academic and Technical and Professional Education (TPE)

The Government are set to introduce new legislation that will ensure schools place equal focus on both academic and technical and professional education (TPE).
The introduction of this new law will result in schools being required to join forces with colleges, university technical colleges and other training providers.
Pupils will receive careers advice, from early on in their secondary education, on all available routes to employment and additional skills available (including higher and degree apprenticeships). This will ensure that young people are given a full picture of the opportunities open to them, and can choose the path that suits them best.
This has been recognised in Government as a need, due to reports that some schools are currently only prepared to promote technical and professional routes to the lowest-achieving pupils.
