Motor dealer John Grose has responded to the call from Suffolk's One College, a centre of learning for 16 to 19-year-olds, to further enhance the educational facilities for its motor vehicle and repair students.

Opened in 2010, One is located on the outskirts of Ipswich and currently provides a wide range of courses and qualifications for more than 1,600 students.

One's IMI Awards Level 2 Diploma in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair educates students in all aspects of routine vehicle servicing such as suspension, engine, braking systems and electronic components.

The science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) faculty at One benefits from a workshop environment that is fully equipped with the latest state-of-the-art equipment, but has found providing vehicles for its students to learn from a challenge. And that is where John Grose has assisted.

John Grose sales director Richard Howard handed over the keys to a top-of-he-range 55-registration Ford Mondeo estate. This vehicle is considerably younger than those the college had previously. It will allow students to gain important experience on modern vehicle systems, ensuring that their training is relevant to the workshops they may be applying to in the future.

Richard said: "We are really pleased to be able to help One in educating the vehicle technicians of the future. Vehicle technology is developing constantly so it's crucial for those wanting a career in the motor industry to have training that is as up-to-date as possible.

"Hopefully, our vehicle will help to do this so, combined with the fantastic facilities that One offers, students will have the very best opportunities open to them."

Teacher Mark Firmin, who took delivery of the Ford Mondeo for One, added: "The partnership we're forging with John Grose and the receipt of this car will undoubtedly enhance the quality of the training we deliver. As a direct result our motor vehicle, students will be able to develop the necessary skills to succeed on the course and progress in their chosen career path."
