IMI KS4 and KS5 Performance Table Qualifications - Important Update

Grading

We recently advised all centres of the requirement to enter a grade, using IMIs grading spreadsheet to calculate, when claiming the current KS4 Levels 1 & 2 Service and Maintenance Engineering qualifications.

Due to concerns identified from recent claims, IMI have deemed that closer scrutiny is required and therefore direct claim status will shortly be removed from all centres delivering the KS4 and KS5 graded qualifications.

Centres will still be required to use the grading spreadsheet (available under each of the qualifications on the IMI Awarding website) to calculate the overall grade then claim as normal via Web Portal 2.

Centres will then be required to complete an ‘External Quality Assurance Evidence Sampling Form for Non-Direct claim Certification Request’ spreadsheet (available on Centres Hub under 'Documents') which should be sent to your EQA for approval.

Online Assessment

In accordance with DfE guidance, all of the KS4 and KS5 qualifications have explicit requirements for external assessment which clearly state that learners are only allowed one retake opportunity for each online test.  This means that a candidate will only get two attempts at each online assessment and should they be unsuccessful they would need to continue in the next academic year.  To support centres, each online test can be clearly distinguished with a (1) and (2).  Please note that the retake (2) may only be taken a minimum of 48 hours after the first attempt.
