In line with the introduction of the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), the regulators have stipulated a new requirement that all qualifications, open to registrations post 31 December 2017, will need to be allocated with Total Qualification Time (TQT).
The requirements should apply from 30 June 2016 to qualifications that are used in school performance measures in England and that have a UCAS tariff. For all other existing qualifications, this deadline is the 31 December 2017. For further information about TQT, click here.
TQT is made up of the following two elements:
• the number of hours which an awarding organisation has assigned to a qualification for Guided Learning, and
• an estimate of the number of hours a Learner will reasonably be likely to spend in preparation, study or any other form of participation in education or training, including assessment, which takes place as directed by – but, unlike Guided Learning, not under the Immediate Guidance or Supervision of – a lecturer, supervisor, tutor or other appropriate provider of education or training.
With this in mind the IMI would like to work with centres to collate feedback and ensure that notional hours are realistic and support the needs of centres and learners. If you would like to support the IMI in this process please contact email@example.com.
